Cold Storage &
Food Operations
Walk-in coolers, freezers and refrigeration systems for the way your products move, are stored and leave the facility.
Commercial refrigeration first
Built Around Your Product.
Planned Around Your Operation.
A cold-storage project needs to work for the people using it every day. Product arrivals, storage conditions, door traffic and dispatch all shape the refrigeration requirements. ADN supports existing rooms, new installations and facility expansions, bringing equipment, access and project coordination into one conversation. The full offering is below, from individual walk-ins to ongoing service.
- Refrigeration matched to the intended product and room use.
- New installations and upgrades planned with your project team.
- Service and maintenance for the equipment you depend on.
Service & maintenance: Vancouver, Lower Mainland & Fraser Valley.
Refrigeration projects: throughout British Columbia.

Refrigeration expertise
Walk-In Coolers
A cooler should fit the way deliveries arrive, stock is held and product moves into the next stage of the operation. We review room use, loading patterns, door access and equipment locations before defining the refrigeration work. For an existing cooler, we can assess a fault, replacement equipment or a change in use, with airflow and maintenance access considered alongside storage space.
- Refrigerated holding for grocery, food service and food operations.
- Evaporators, condensing equipment and operating controls.
- Equipment placement coordinated with shelving, doors and access.

Refrigeration expertise
Walk-In Freezers
Freezer requirements start with what the product needs. Holding already-frozen goods and freezing incoming product are different applications and must be identified early. ADN reviews the refrigeration, defrost arrangement and operating conditions with the project team. For an existing room, recurring icing, door condition and equipment history help define the investigation and recommended work.
- Storage use and operating requirements established at the outset.
- Freezer evaporators, condensing equipment, defrost and controls.
- Refrigeration scope coordinated with room, floor and door requirements.

Refrigeration expertise
Temperature-Controlled Facilities
Receiving, storage, preparation and dispatch may need different refrigerated spaces within the same facility. We help define the refrigeration work for each area while considering product movement, door traffic and equipment access. Owners, contractors and other specialists can then coordinate the wider building requirements around a clear refrigeration scope.
- Cold rooms for food holding, production support and distribution.
- Room-by-room equipment and operating requirements.
- Piping routes and maintenance access coordinated with the building.

Refrigeration expertise
Refrigeration Systems
Reliable operation depends on how the refrigeration components work together. ADN reviews condensing equipment, evaporators, piping and controls when assessing an existing installation or planning new work. Repeated problems may warrant a wider system review. The proposal identifies what can remain, what needs to change and how the new equipment connects to the facility.
- Existing-equipment assessment and replacement planning.
- Refrigeration equipment, piping and control changes.
- Installation, startup checks and agreed handover requirements.

Refrigeration expertise
New Construction & Expansions
Bring refrigeration into the conversation while layouts and access routes can still be coordinated. We work with your project team on equipment locations, piping, penetrations and trade requirements. For an expansion, we also review the existing installation and connections. A clear sequence helps the team prepare the site, arrange installation and plan startup.
- New walk-in rooms and additional refrigerated capacity.
- Coordination with owners, builders and other trades.
- Defined site readiness, installation and handover responsibilities.

Refrigeration expertise
Existing Facility Upgrades & Retrofits
An operating facility has to plan the work around its product and people. ADN assesses the existing equipment and site constraints before discussing replacements, relocations or refrigeration modifications. We review the proposed work sequence with your team, including any temporary storage arrangements, access windows and shutdown requirements that need to be resolved.
- Replacement refrigeration equipment and control changes.
- Piping modifications and equipment relocation where suitable.
- A changeover plan based on the actual site conditions.

Refrigeration expertise
Service & Planned Maintenance
Keep the room and its connected equipment visible in the maintenance plan. ADN Planned Maintenance identifies covered assets and their relationships, such as a walk-in, evaporator and condensing unit, with agreed tasks for each visit. Recorded findings help your team understand what needs follow-up. For a fault, share the affected room, symptoms and Asset ID if known.
- Cooler, freezer and associated refrigeration equipment support.
- Documented visit findings and outstanding items.
- Recommended corrective work quoted or authorized separately.

Useful answers
Cold Storage Planning Questions
Can you work on an existing walk-in cooler or freezer?
Yes. ADN supports repairs, equipment replacement and refrigeration upgrades for existing rooms, as well as new installations. Share the room use, equipment details, site location and problem or planned change so we can discuss the assessment.
Can we convert a cooler into a freezer?
A conversion needs a site-specific review. The room construction, floor, doors, refrigeration equipment, controls and intended use all affect the scope. A temperature-setting change alone does not establish that an existing cooler is suitable for freezer duty.
What information helps you assess a cold-storage expansion?
Provide room dimensions or plans, intended storage conditions, product and loading information, door traffic, existing equipment and site location. Explain which areas must remain operational. We then review the refrigeration scope and responsibilities with your project team.
How do you maintain the room and its connected equipment?
The agreed asset list identifies the room and associated refrigeration equipment, including evaporators and condensing units where covered. Tasks, visit frequency and access requirements are defined for those assets. Repairs or other work outside the maintenance agreement require separate authorization.
